"It was a crazy game," head coach Mark Cooke said. "I think we saw a little bit of everything in that game. We knew they could hit and we were hoping we were going to be able to hit with them today. This is a good Liberty squad that has three wins over Top 20 teams this year. After giving up that big lead and going extra innings, we were very fortunate to come out on top and I'm proud of my team for battling."
Liberty got things started right away in game two as Williams stepped up and cracked a three-run homer over the left field fence in the top of the first inning off freshman starter Cari Wooldridge.
The Flames made it 4-0 in the top of the fourth before Winthrop finally got on the scoreboard. Laura Hill hit a home run to right field with one out, her fifth homer of the season. The Lady Eagles added another run to make it 4-2 in the fifth inning on a Reid RBI single. However, that was as close as Winthrop got as Williams wasn't finished as she smacked another three-run home run in the top of the seventh.
Wooldridge tossed a complete game allowing all six runs on 12 hits with no walks and five strikeouts to fall to 10-4 on the year. Terra Lowe tossed five innings allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts to improve the score to 8-5.
Scrymgeour finished 2-for-3 in game two and extended her hitting streak to nine games. Thomas also had two hits and finished with five on the day.

Winthrop 0, Liberty 9
Liberty's Jessica Moore hit her second grand slam in three games that propelled the Flames to a 9-0 victory over Winthrop, clinching the three-game series.
Leading 2-0 in the top of the second inning, Moore stepped to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded. Moore hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence, which was her second grand slam of the series. Moore hit a grand slam to tie the game at 9-9 in Friday's series opener.
Liberty cruised from there as it added three more runs over the next two innings and its pitching shutdown the Winthrop offense to end the game in five innings.
Winthrop will step away from conference action as it hosts Furman on Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m. The Eagles will then travel to take on Coastal Carolina this weekend. The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. and a single game Sunday also at 2 p.m.
The Big South Conference tournament will be played on the campus of Coastal Carolina May 10-12.
