Junior Daniel Revivo and the Eagles dribbled past the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Halloween night winning in a treat, 2-1 in overtime. Revivo scored the only two goals to lead the Eagles to victory.

DeLAND, Fl.- Dave Carton's goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation helped Winthrop to a 2-2 tie at Stetson, Saturday afternoon in men's soccer non-conference action. It was the third time in four games the Eagles have played overtime.

Winthrop led 1-0 after 22 minutes when Saidi Isaac netted his ninth goal of the season off a through ball from Daniel Revivo and dominated the majority of the play in the first half. However, Stetson scored the equalizer in the 39th minute and took a 2-1 lead just a minute and 10 seconds into the second half.

The Eagles (9-2-3) applied a lot of offensive pressure over the final 20 minutes of regulation and Carton was moved from the back four to the midfield. The move paid off as Saidi Isaac put Sean Weron free down the left side, he then served the ball into the box. Carton took the cross off the chest, let the ball fall down in front of him and ripped a left-footed volley into the top right corner from about 10 yards out.

The Hatters (10-4-2) capitalized off defensive mistakes in the 39th minute to tie the match. The play finished with a through ball to Eugene Starikov from Tanner Wolfe and Starikov beat Winthrop keeper Patrick Mitrovich to the near post. Stetson caught the Eagles sleeping at the beginning of the second half and Wolfe set up another goal as his through ball found Kirk LaBusch, who then beat Mitrovich to the far post with a shot just inside the 18-yard box.

Winthrop, already playing without starter Henry Kalungi, took starter Stephen Nsereko out for the final 46 minutes. Starting defender Ben Kieffner was also pulled for the final 36 minutes as Head Coach Rich Posipanko used several players off the bench. Drew Sanders, Said Abdi, Grant Wise and Cameron Alksnis played well and gave the Eagles valuable minutes off the bench.

"I don't think anyone is ever satisfied with a tie," Posipanko said. "But under the circumstances today with the number of injuries we had and going deep into the bench, I was pleased to see other guys get opportunities to play and did well against a very good Stetson team. I thought it was a very competitive game that probably could have gone either way at the end of the day. I thought our overall play was good as well as our intensity and work rate. I was happy to see us fight back after being down."

Isaac, who had a goal and an assist on the day, nearly put Winthrop up in the ninth minute as he broke free with a one-on-one with Stetson keeper Evan White. Isaac went to goal at an angle and tried to beat White to the near post, but he just got a piece of the shot and knocked it wide. He also had a chance to get the game-winner in the second overtime as John Gilkerson played a ball behind the defense that Isaac ran on to and headed toward goal. But Isaac's shot from just outside the corner of the six-yard box was blocked out of bounds by a Stetson defender for a corner kick.

Up next for the Eagles will be Big South Conference foe Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
