Ms. McKnight [of The Roddey-McMillan Record],
your call for our students of color to "support our race" is just as equally offensive as the KKK calling to support theirs. Can you begin to imagine the backlash if say a Rush Limbaugh used his radio program to promote the white candidate?
It is [columns] like yours that only perpetuate racial division, not end it.

Every trip to Java City is guaranteed to take 20-30 minutes once you get to the line. Even when the line is not long, there is only one person working the line and the pace is glacial. Many students need a quick coffee or meal between classes and do not have time for a 30 minute visit. They should implement express lanes for food and drip coffee purchases to avoid the lengthy latte and Javalanche drinks. In addition to being slow, it is out of the way of the majority of majors on our campus. Either way, the way Java City is run should not be acceptable and I believe that the students should begin voicing their opinion. Enough is enough.

Opinion columns are to be written with class, ease, style and information. All of your columns are ill-informed, poorly written, and frankly, they diminish your credibility as a writer. As a reader, I don't care that you're a feminist. I don't care that you are a Republican. I care that you make a viable, informative argument for your position. This isn't about your political affiliation, your social stance or any of your ideas. This is about being a writer - being a good columnist.
